Welcome to BMUN!

Hi delegates!


We are so excited to welcome you to BMUN 72 and the CCPCJ committee.


In this committee, you will be learning how to critique, analyze, and fix the international communities current systems, policies, and culture in regards to criminal justice and organized crime. Our first topic addresses the importance of decreasing state dependency on carceral systems. Our second topic addresses organized environmental crime in the Amazon.


This blog will act as our committee’s more informal avenue for discussion and communication before the conference– and we’d love to see you interact with it! The purpose of this blog is to (1) allow you to actively engage with the content of this committee and (2) give you all the opportunity to learn about other countries’ policies before the debate actually starts. You can post comments on posts that we make and write about literally anything relevant to the topics at hand! For example, if you’ve found follow-up content or research you’d like to share, would like to discuss your country’s opinion on the topic, or have other ideas in mind, this blog is the place for that! Please write from the perspective of the country that you are representing.

Here, I will also touch on some important guidelines and expectations as you start your research:


Position Papers

We highly recommend taking advantage of the synopsis as the starting point in your research. It may be really long (sorry), but we promise that it’s a digestible read; plus, a good portion of it is images and citations.


CCPCJ will use the standard, default position paper format. Position papers are due on February 18th to be considered for the Research Award, and February 25th to be considered for any committee award. Please reach out to us if you need more time, and we would be happy to grant an extension (no later than March 1st). 


Procedure Guide

CCPCJ will be using standard BMUN/MUN procedure. If you have any questions about the topics, the procedure, your position paper, or BMUN in general, please don’t hesitate to contact us at ccpcj72@bmun.org or mshyno@bmun.org!

Procedure & Committee Flow!

  Hi Delegates! I wanted to check in with you to provide some more insight to how our committee is going to work at BMUN 72. CCPCJ will be using standard BMUN procedure. Our committee will begin by opening a running Speaker’s List (standard speaking time is 1 minute, 30 seconds) and those speeches will be followed by 2 30-second comments by other delegates. This is the default timing for the Speaker’s List and can be amended if agreed upon by the committee. The Speaker’s List can also be interrupted by Moderated Caucuses and Informal Caucuses that give delegates the opportunity to exchange opinions on policy, solutions, and more specific aspects of the topics at hand. In our committee, our dais plans on leaving the flow of committee up to you delegates, so we suggest you come prepared with specific subtopics and policies you hope to discuss! Tips for Public Speaking

Welcome Back to CCPCJ's Blog Delegates! As seasoned Model United Nations community members, we understand that public speaking can be both exhilarating and nerve-wracking. Whether you're a seasoned delegate or a newcomer to BMUN conferences, mastering the art of public speaking is essential for effectively representing your country, articulating your ideas, and negotiating with your fellow delegates.
